Innovation & Design

"PDT hand instruments are ergonomically designed to provide maximum comfort and tactile sensitivity."

Through a delicate blend of design, evolution and development, Paradise Dental Technologies (PDT) has been able to bring fresh and improved dental products to hygienists around the globe.

Drawing on more than 30 years of industry experience and by carefully listening to observations, ideas and suggestions from dental professionals, PDT is proud to offer the most carefully designed and hand-crafted dental instruments available.

PDT Instruments are designed with one thought in mind. The well-being of you and your patients.

Research has shown that the design of a hygiene instrument has a significant effect on the pinch force needed for its control.

The higher the force needed, the more strain you will experience, with the risk of cumulative effects causing musculoskeletal disorders (MSD).

The pinch force can be reduced significantly by careful consideration and design of the handle and its weight.

Ergonomic Handle Design

Weighing just 13 grams, PDT instruments are amongst the lightest on the market.

Each handle is carefully crafted from solid resin and ergonomically designed to provide maximum comfort. An optimum 10mm diameter reduces strain on the fingers and wrists, while the unique pattern (knurling) on every instrument allows for optimum grip and greater rotational control, even when wet.

The solid resin handles also enhance tactile sensitivity, so you can sense everything you touch through the vibration of the handle.

Thinner, Sharper & Stronger

PDT's blades are thinner, sharper and harder, thanks to a unique process of heat treatment and cryogenics that produces a uniform molecular grain structure in the steel. This production technique increases the blade's durability, reducing sharpening time and enabling it to last between four and seven times longer than competitor instruments.

Better still, when your PDT instruments do eventually lose their edge, there’s no need to throw them away. They can be quickly re-sharpened using the simple Ultimate Edge Kit.

PDT O'Hehir Curettes

"O'Hehir curettes feature a unique scoop that's sharp on teeth and smooth against gums."

Specially created with a 270-degree cutting perimeter, PDT O’Hehir curettes can reach areas often missed by traditional curette blades. It’s this unique design that allows for multiple angulations, making it far more effective for calculus removal.

Perfect for three-dimensional scaling and root planing, O’Hehirs can be pushed and pulled in any direction without causing trauma to areas of soft tissue and are ideal for flutings, furcations and line angles.

Each instrument is ergonomically designed for maximum user comfort. Large diameter handles crafted from solid resin allow for enhanced manoeuvrability, while extended knurling results in superior tactile sensitivity.

Factor in the ultra-robust steel blades, forged using a fine blend of heat-treatment and cryogenics, and it’s hard to believe that each O’Hehir instrument weighs in at a mere 13 grams!
