Mouth Cancer Action Month 2026: Know the Signs, Save Lives
Mouth Cancer Action Month

This November, Swallow Dental is helping raise awareness of Mouth Cancer Action Month. Organised by the Oral Health Foundation, the campaign highlights the importance of early detection and recognising the warning signs of mouth cancer.

Early detection can make a significant difference to treatment outcomes, which is why raising awareness and encouraging regular mouth checks is so important

Know the Signs and Symptoms

Mouth cancer can affect anyone, and recognising the early warning signs could help save lives. Common symptoms include:

  • Mouth ulcers that do not heal within three weeks.

  • Red or white patches inside the mouth.

  • Unexplained lumps or swellings in the mouth, head or neck.

  • Persistent pain or discomfort in the mouth or throat.

  • Difficulty swallowing or speaking without an obvious cause.

The Importance of Early Detection

Dental professionals play a vital role in the early detection of mouth cancer. Routine examinations provide an opportunity to identify potential warning signs, educate patients and encourage further investigation when necessary.

By raising awareness, promoting regular mouth checks and helping patients recognise changes in their oral health, you can make a real difference in improving early detection and patient outcomes.

Together, We Can Make a Difference

Throughout November, we encourage dental professionals to raise awareness of mouth cancer, educate patients on the warning signs and reinforce the importance of regular oral examinations. By promoting early detection and encouraging patients to report any unusual changes, we can help make a difference.
