Its specialised design combines the functions of a root tip elevator and periotome, supporting controlled and minimally traumatic root removal.
The Bernard #6 features a concave inner working surface with sharp lateral edges. Using gentle pressure and controlled rotational movements, the cutting edges help separate the periodontal ligament fibres while progressively loosening the retained root from the surrounding tissues.
By combining ligament separation and root mobilisation in a single instrument, the Bernard #6 helps clinicians achieve controlled extraction while minimising unnecessary trauma to the surrounding bone and soft tissues.
