Swallow Make Children’s Home Donation
Swallow Donates Wheelchair-Accessable Bike to Wedgewood House

At Swallow Dental, we take tremendous pride in supporting worthy causes that make a real difference in the community.

That’s why we’re delighted to have donated a wheelchair-accessible bike to Wedgewood House, a local children’s home that provides tailored care for children and young people with complex health needs.

The Van Raam VeloPlus Wheelchair bike will allow the home’s wheelchair users the freedom to enjoy cycling. With the aid of a co-rider, users can be wheeled onto the plateau of the cycle easily without having to be lifted, while the ramp makes it easy to roll the wheelchair onto the bike.

Kiran Hussain, Residential Practitioner at Wedgewood House, extended his thanks: “I would like to say a very big thank you to Swallow Dental for your donation and making it possible for us to have a wheelchair-accessible bike.”

About Wedgewood House

Run by Bradford Metropolitan District Council, Wedgwood House provides residential and day care services to children and young people with disabilities and complex health needs.

The home allows residents to socialise with friends and peers by offering a range of stimulating activities. Participants also receive tailored care in a safe and caring environment.

Wedgewood House aims to provide short breaks for children with disabilities, allowing them to remain in their own homes and community. By delivering safe packages of care that can vary in length, depending on individual needs, the home can fully address individual outcomes.

“Our philosophy of working with children and young people is to see each as an individual and treat them as such,” added Mr Hussain.

“We aim to provide continuity of care from home, if supported in the short break provision, and school, while striving to provide stimulating activities, making sure cultural and religious needs are being met and choices given where appropriate. We aim to promote equality to all.”
