Vicryl Rapide Suture
Ethicon Vicryl Rapide Sutures are high-quality, synthetic, braided, undyed, absorbable sutures made from Polyglactin 910. Specially designed for procedures where rapid absorption is advantageous, these sutures provide reliable tissue approximation while minimising the need for suture removal.
Indications: Vicryl Rapide is ideal for soft tissue closures, including:
Skin closure in pediatric surgery
Episiotomy repair
Oral mucosal closures
Ophthalmic procedures, such as conjunctival sutures
Performance: These sutures retain approximately 50% of their tensile strength at 5 days, lose all strength within 10–14 days, and are completely absorbed in roughly 42 days. Their short-term support makes them perfect for tissues that heal quickly.
Note: Vicryl Rapide is not recommended for cardiovascular or neurological tissues or for wounds requiring support or ligation beyond 7 days.
