EX2 Piezomed Extraction Tip
The W&H EX2 is part of W&H's Piezomed Extraction Kit (usually paired with the EX1 tip), and it's used during surgical tooth extractions to gently detach the tooth from the periodontal ligament, and preserve the surrounding bone and soft tissues---especially useful if a dental implant is planned after, and to provide a controlled, minimally invasive alternative to forceps or elevators. It uses ultrasonic micro-vibrations instead of mechanical force, making it a safer, more precise, and less traumatic option---particularly in delicate cases (e.g., ankylosed teeth, thin buccal bone, or close proximity to anatomical structures like sinuses or nerves).
Why Choose The W&H EX2 Piezomed Extraction Tip?
Atraumatic Extraction with Bone Preservation- The EX2 tip, like its companion EX1, is designed for atraumatic tooth extraction. Its ultrasonic action gently detaches the periodontal ligament while preserving the surrounding alveolar bone and soft tissue, minimising trauma and supporting better healing.
Seamless Compatibility with EX1 in a Kit- The EX2 is often supplied alongside EX1 in the Piezomed Extraction Kit (EX set). Together, they offer comprehensive functionality for both buccal and lingual/palatal approaches during surgical extraction.
Automatic Power Assignment and Safety- When inserted into the W&H Piezomed system, the EX2 tip is automatically recognised and assigned the correct power setting, ensuring safe and consistent ultrasonic performance. This reduces the risk of instrument overload or misuse.
Integrated Cooling for Tissue Protection- Coolant is delivered directly to the tip's working area, maintaining safe temperatures and reducing thermal damage to both bone and soft tissue during extraction.
Micro-Precision Ultrasonic Technology- Combining ultrasonic micro-vibrations with cavitation effects, the EX2 removes targeted tissue with precision and minimal bleeding, preserving vital structures while promoting patient comfort.
